This chapter focusses on the questions, why are there two cerebral hemispheres at all and why are they separate? McGilchrist points out (at the beginning of Chapter 4) that ultimately the brain’s asymmetry, which he discusses in detail in this chapter, suggests that difference does not necessarily involve equality.
